Dr. Cyriac Thomas is a distinguished educationist and public intellectual, currently serving as a Member of the National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions.
He holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Kerala and began his career after clearing the UPSC Civil Services Examination in 1967.
He served as Vice-Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University, Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kerala, and In-Charge Vice-Chancellor of Cochin University of Science & Technology.
He was Professor and Head of the Department of Political Science at St. Thomas College, Palai, and guided eight Ph.D. scholars during his tenure.
Dr. Thomas has held national leadership roles, including General Secretary of the Indian Political Science Association and National Vice-President of the Catholic Council of India.
He is a widely published author in both English and Malayalam, with acclaimed works such as Dynamics of State Politics: Kerala and Rashtra Thanthram.
He actively promotes interfaith dialogue, value-based education, and national integration, and is a respected speaker in educational and civic forums.
Even after his retirement, Dr. Thomas continues to contribute to academia and public policy, upholding values of ethical governance and social harmony.
