Mr. Joseph Tom is a dedicated zoologist and research scholar at ICAR-Central Tuber Crops Research Institute (ICAR-CTCRI), Thiruvananthapuram, specializing in bioactive compounds and sustainable biotechnologies.
He holds graduate and postgraduate degrees in Zoology from S.B. College, Changanacherry, and has cleared the UGC-CSIR NET and JRF, affirming his academic merit.
His research centers on isolating bioactive compounds from cassava to combat ectoparasites in birds and animals, with promising implications in veterinary health.
Joseph is actively involved in toxicology studies, cell culture research, and the development of natural biopesticides like Nanma, Memna, and Shreya.
He has also contributed to biofuel and biogas innovations using cassava, pushing the frontier of green energy solutions.
As a guest lecturer at S.B. College, he shares his expertise while publishing scientific work and presenting at national conferences.
Outside academia, he is a cyanophilist and pigeon fancier, with a passion for avian genetics, dog breeding, and organic waste management using Black Soldier Fly larvae.
He belongs to the Kozhuppakalam family, is a parishioner of St. Antony’s Forane Church, Kurumpanadom, and is married to Cincy Thomas with whom he has a daughter.
