Dr. Jose Kallarackal is an accomplished Consultant Scientist and expert in forest ecophysiology, with a Ph.D. from the University of Delhi (1977) and six years of teaching experience in Botany at Delhi University.

He completed post-doctoral research at the University of New England (Australia), University of Bayreuth (Germany), and Landcare Research (New Zealand).

He is a recipient of several prestigious international fellowships including the Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship (Germany), Royal Society Commonwealth Bursary (UK), JICA Fellowship (Japan), and Crawford Foundation Fellowship (Australia).

Dr. Kallarackal has actively collaborated with research groups across Germany, Australia, New Zealand, China, and more, contributing to the field of tropical and temperate forest research.

He served as Scientist G and Program Coordinator at the Kerala Forest Research Institute for 21 years, followed by 6 years as an Emeritus Scientist under CSIR and KSCSTE.

He has completed several national and international projects on climate change and plant ecophysiology and has been a speaker at numerous global conferences.

His scholarly output includes over 60 international journal publications and three books published by Springer (Switzerland) on climate change and wood density.
